About BigEastCast

BigEastCast, brought to you by SportscastsU, will discuss everything that matters in the world of Big East basketball. With 16 teams, each having its own fan base and storylines, the task is daunting, but BigEastCast will do its best to give listeners the latest news and most thoughtful analysis. From media day in October through the Big East Tournament in March and all the summer activity, hosts Brendon Desrochers and Dante Carnevale will break down the league like no other media outlet around to serve fans who can never quench their Big East thirst.

BigEastCast will have a new broadcast at least twice per week during the basketball season, on Mondays and Fridays, with mp3-quality broadcasts downloadable for the iPod and a host of other portable audio devices that will allow you to listen on you commute. You can also tune in for free right on your computer.

Our call-in line number is (347) 410-9093. Call anytime and leave your name and location, and if you're witty or insightful (or complimentary enough), we'll play your thoughts on the air.

About Dante Carnevale

Dante Carnevale, 26, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and is currently an editorial producer for MLSnet.com. He has been a fan of Big East basketball since attending a 1990 exhibition game between Rick Barnes' Providence College Friars and the Israeli National Team, which the Friars won on a game-winning pair of free throws from Abdul Shamsideen.

Carnevale lists the Providence Journal's Bill Reynolds as his favorite college hoops writer and the 1997 PC Friars as his favorite all-time college hoops team. Since attending UMass, he is also partial to the (sadly) mid-major Atlantic 10 conference and covered the A-10 during a year-and-a-half stint as a reporter with the Narragansett Times, but he has never wavered in his belief in Big East superiority.

About Brendon Desrochers

Brendon Desrochers, 25, has had a Providence College pennant on his wall since age 6, symbolic of his faithfulness in the Friars and his intense interest in Big East basketball. He grew up with his hopes buoyed by Eric Murdock, Michael Smith and God Shammgod but more often shattered by Jerome Lane, Lawrence Moten and Ray Allen. Desrochers is a graduate of Big Ten power Northwestern University and also earned a master's in sports administration at St. Thomas University (Fla.) while working as sports information director there.

He now works as the lead editorial producer for avp.com, the website of American professional beach volleyball. Desrochers writes a Big East-focused college basketball blog, "Court Visions," for SNY.tv that gives in-depth coverage of the league he's followed for two decades.
